Everything you need to know about duties and shipping taxes with Yusen.

When goods are imported internationally, some government agencies may impose customs duties (also called customs taxes). Shipments and goods may be delayed, detained or withheld from release if duties have not been paid in a timely manner.

Quotations made with Yusen Logistics do not include import duties and taxes. However, some operating companies (e.g. Japan) charge customers "the advanced payment fees" as duties costs.

In regard to calculation, it depends on the country and commodity type. Yusen Logistics (or Importer) will first assigns a HS code for each commodity in order to create the import declaration, then the fixed duties duty and tax rate can be calculated.
