To search for freight quotes, you need to enter your shipment size and indicate routing information. Your quote will be based on the information you provide at the time of search.
Here is how to search for quotes in SEVEN easy steps:
1. Load
If you are shipping boxes or pallets, then your load will be the volume, weight, and the number of boxes, crates or pallets.
You can search in inches or centimeters for dimensions, and pounds or kilograms for weight. If you have individual boxes or pallets with the same dimensions, you can enter your individual shipment units (for instance, five boxes, each sizes 100cm x 100cm x 100cm and weighs 100 kg).
If you need to add another unit due to different dimensions, you can click on ‘Add another unit’ and another row.
When looking for a quote based on the total shipment, select this option (ie, five boxes totalling 0.63 cbm and 500 kg).
If you do not know your load details your supplier can provide you with this information or you can find it on your packing list.
2. Pick up location
Next, choose the address where your goods should be picked up from. This can either be from a Port/Airport or directly from the factory location.
If you choose to have pick-up from a Port/Airport, you can select whether origin charges included in the quotation by clicking “Origin charges included”.
If you deselect “Origin charges included”, you will receive a pop-up notification that to confirm your supplier will pay all origin charges. So beware, if you do deselect this box, you may incur penalties and additional fees.
Next, indicate which country or region the pick-up is from and indicate the city name or zip code. The search bar is linked to Google Maps, so you will be able to select the correct city or location from the suggestions.
Don’t worry if that seems broad - only the city is needed to provide quotes. The specific address will go in later on.
3. Goods Ready Date
You will also be asked when your goods will be ready for pick up (it is okay if this is just an estimation - the exact date of pick up will have to be communicated between Yusen Logistics and customer after you book).
4. Destination
Enter the destination address where your goods will ultimately be delivered. Similar to the origin address, this will likely be a warehouse or business designated for cargo deliveries, this could also be a port. Use the search bar to find the port name, city, or zip code.
5. Customs and additional services
Finally, you will need to indicate some extra details for your shipment.
Whether export or import customs clearance is needed or not, you will need to indicate this by ticking the relevant boxes.
Commodities refers to the types of goods or products being shipped, as opposed to the number of physical units in the shipment (for example, 500 units of pillows is one commodity; 500 pillows and 500 cellphones are counted as two commodities.)
6. Additional details
Bear in mind that right now we cannot support hazardous goods or personal shipments. If you select either of these boxes, you will receive a pop-up notification explaining why you cannot select.
7. Insurance
Tick the insurance box on the search page if you want to include insurance in your shipment. Enter the value of your goods to determine the cost of insurance, which will then be added to the quotation.
When you are ready, click Search & Book to view the quotation results page.
